The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s PetroBowl® Team delivered an exceptional performance at the North America Regional Qualifiers, held on February 22, 2024, at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The team secured a Top 4 finish out of 22 competing universities, earning a spot in the prestigious PetroBowl® Championship at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE)—the largest oil and gas conference worldwide. Competing in this fast-paced global quiz competition, UL’s team dominated their group stage by defeating UNAM (Mexico) and the University of Oklahoma, then secured their international qualification with a victory over Louisiana State University in the quarterfinals. Notably, UL was the only team to defeat the tournament champions, UNAM, highlighting their impressive knowledge and preparation. The five teams advancing from North America to the international stage are UNAM, Missouri S&T, UL Lafayette, Texas A&M, and the University of Houston.

Representing UL in this achievement are Vincent Nana Boah Amponsah, Bilal Ibrahim, Anireju Emmanuel Dudun, MD Nahin Mahmood, and Muhammad Towhidul Islam, who have demonstrated remarkable dedication and expertise. Their success underscores the strength of UL’s Petroleum Engineering program, and we look forward to seeing them compete on the global stage at ATCE. Congratulations and best of luck to our team!
