Workstrings International Facility Tour
Mon, 02/26/2024 - 9:00amStudents from UL's Petroleum Engineering program enjoyed an informative and engaging tour of the Workstrings International facility on Friday, February 22nd. The warm reception from the staff set the tone for a day filled with valuable experiences. The tour kicked off with a delectable lunch in the facility's lunchroom, featuring a spread of crawfish etouffee, potato salad, green salad, garlic bread, and a delectable bread pudding. The students were not only treated to delicious food but also to a warm welcome from the Workstrings International team.
Following the hearty lunch, the students gathered in the conference room for an insightful presentation. The company generously provided promotional materials, including slide rules, tally books, pens, koozies, and hats. The presentation covered Workstrings International's global footprint, engineering excellence in design, and their innovative achievements, such as being the sole provider of a 3-million-pound workstring.
Venturing into the facility's expansive 80+ acre yard, students explored various buildings dedicated to different aspects of the industry. The demostrations included inspections, tool handling, slips/elevators, specialized coatings, valve assemblies, and more. The cleanliness and efficiency of the facility left a lasting impression on the students, many of whom had not witnessed such a well-organized operation before.
The visit, which lasted three hours, proved to be a valuable opportunity for the students to gain practical insights into the industry. The exposure to Workstrings International's operations will undoubtedly contribute to their understanding and readiness for future endeavors in the field. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Petroleuim Engineering departmenet expresses gratitude to the Workstrings International team for their support and looks forward to future visits to further enrich the students' educational experiences.
