On November 13, UL Lafayette Petroleum Engineering students welcomed leaders from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Evangeline Section (Lafayette, LA) to campus for an engaging student chapter meeting focused on career preparation and industry outlook.

During the visit, students and guests discussed upcoming chapter initiatives, current industry trends, the outlook for oil and gas in Louisiana, and what professional life looks like after graduation. The conversation provided valuable real-world perspective and motivation for students as they plan their next steps.

The meeting also included recognition of this year’s SPE scholarship recipients, celebrating students’ achievements and the support provided through the SPE community.

We sincerely thank our speakers, Thomas Herter (UL Lafayette alumnus) and Dr. John Rogers Smith, as well as the SPE Evangeline Section, for their continued involvement and support of the UL Lafayette SPE student chapter.
