On Tuesday, April 15, we were honored to welcome Mr. Joel Werner to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he delivered an inspiring presentation to our SPE Student Chapter titled “Society of Petroleum Engineers: Students, Young Professionals and Beyond. Inspiring and Connecting You to the WORLD’S BEST Oil and Gas Professionals.”

Mr. Werner, a Louisiana native and former SPE Student Chapter member, shared insights drawn from more than 34 years of global energy industry experience across the upstream, midstream, and expansion energy sectors including geothermal and carbon capture. His career has taken him across North and South America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia. He has served in leadership roles in operations, land and mineral management, business development, and energy transition consulting.

He emphasized the vital role of SPE student members in shaping the future of the oil and gas industry and discussed the many opportunities available to them in this evolving field.

We are grateful to Mr. Werner for his visit, mentorship, and for sharing his passion for the energy industry with our Ragin’ Cajuns. We look forward to continued engagement with SPE leaders and professionals from across the globe.

Geaux Ragin’ Cajuns!
