On Friday, September 27th. Our Petroleum Engineering students had an outstanding hands-on learning experience at Sperry Drilling (Halliburton). The tour provided in-depth exposure to downhole directional drilling tools, including rotary steerable systems (RSS) for both point-the-bit and push-the-bit technologies, conventional PDMs, telemetry systems (positive and negative pulse), drill bits, reamers, stabilizers, LWD/MWD tools, and mud logging.

A highlight of the visit was a bottom hole assembly (BHA) setup for a deepwater deployment, with all tools laid out, measuring an impressive 200 feet in total length. This experience bridges the gap between academics and industry, providing students with a complete education.

A special thanks to Sperry Drilling for this valuable opportunity and to Kyle LeBouef and his team for their excellent guidance!
